People Power Builds Barnstable’s First Dog Park

A few months ago I wrote you to tell you that the Town of Barnstable had agreed to build its first dog park on land adjacent to Hathaway’s Pond, at the corner of Phinney’s Lane and the entrance to Hathaway’s pond, near Route 132. We now have a letter from the Town offering a licensing agreement that paves the way toward ground-breaking. All we need now is people power! That’s where you come in. A:s a recipient of this newsletter, you are our most important asset in spreading the word about our plans and helping us to garner support for the park. Support can mean money, and yes we’d love donations and to grow our membership, but it also means raising awareness. Here are three key messages we’d like you to share with every dog owner you know:

– Barnstable’s first dog park has been in the planning stages for three years and is expected to break ground soon on land near Hathaway’s Pond
– The park will be free to all residents and visitors – no membership or fees required
– Everyone can help by attending our fundraisers, signing up to receive our newsletters and volunteering by reaching out to
The more people you talk to, the more hearts and minds we’ll have to get this first park open. Watch this space for news and opportunities to get involved.

Let’s play!
